THE lawyer of Madeleine McCann prime suspect Christian B has blasted as “an act of pure desperation” searches of his client’s former allotment
Friedrich Fülscher goaded cops and prosecutors about their bid to the nail 43-year-old paedo for killing Madeleine saying they’ve “backed the wrong horse”.

It comes after Christian B submitted another request for parole days after withdrawing his application claiming he had ''lost confidence'' in the judicial system.
Fülscher insisted the search of old allotment plot in Hanover this week, which uncovered a secret cellar beneath the earth, was an elaborate show to revive interest in the investigation.
“The site has been known by prosecutors for years,” he said.
“It is an act of pure desperation by them to appear to be working on it now.
“It seems the public prosecutors office are finding it hard to admit they have backed the wrong horse.”
The convicted rapist and paedophile's fresh bid comes as cops searched a secret cellar underneath an allotment he rented and could swoop on a second one.
Christian B was eligible for release in June after serving two thirds of a 21-month sentence for drugs trafficking.
But his lawyer Friedrich Fulscher pulled that application saying he had no faith in the court that would consider the request, as it was the same one that had convicted his client of rape.
Mr Fulscher, who has refused to speak with British media, told German news outlets he had resubmitted the request but at the court in Kiel where Christian B is currently jailed.
He added:''This court is now the one responsible and will look at our application.''
It came hours after cops investigating the Brit youngster's disappearance finished digging up an allotment just four miles from Christian B's former home.
In a dramatic twist it German cops could swoop on a second allotment he rented after being begged to investigate by the terrified new owner who fears she's "sleeping over a dead body".
The U-turn came just days after Fulscher announced no charges would be brought against Christian B and that prosecutors were chasing up a blind alley.
Last week Germany's Federal Court announced that Braunschweig court would decide whether parole would be granted and a judge was due to rule next month
FRESH PAROLE BID
But Mr Fulscher said as this was the same court that sentenced Christian B to seven years for the 2005 rape of a 72-year-old US woman at Praia da Luz - just yards from where Maddie vanished - he was withdrawing the request.
In July Mr Fulscher said Christian B was being ''vilified'' and that he was in solitary confinement at Kiel jail.
He is also appealing against the rape conviction at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg and an interim ruling is expected next week.
Christian B's jail term for the drugs offence ends in January and prosecutors fear he will vanish once he is released.
He was sentenced in 2011 for his part in supplying drugs to high-class clients in northern Germany with the help of a mystery pusher known only as ''Julia''.
He set up the lucrative ring in the late summer of 2007 just after leaving Portugal - the same year Maddie vanished - and police are trying to track Julia down in case she has information.
Madeleine is believed to have been snatched from the Ocean Club apartment where she was sleeping alongside her twin siblings Sean and Amelie on May 3, 2007, in Praia du Luz.
Christian B was identified last month as being the prime suspect in her abduction.
The McCann's family lawyer said police have just 22 months to find enough evidence due to a 15-year time limit on prosecutions in Portugal.
It comes after evidence bags are believed to have been removed from the garden in Hanover, Germany.
Forensic officers and sniffer dog spent three days hunting through the allotment for clues and uncovered a secret cellar underneath a demolished building.
Two red mini-excavators dug up the plot — which is four miles from the fiend’s former home and two miles from a car workshop where he used to work.
Ground-penetrating radars scoured the decades-old tunnels, where prisoners were forced to labour in World War Two.
An unnamed source told the newspaper Bild Christian B had once lived on the garden site in his caravan.
One local said he was often seen at the allotment in his distinctive yellow and white VW Camper van - the subject of a previous cop appeal.
Neighbours told how Christian B, who has a history of 17 child sex offences, lived off-grid at the site.
He told them he wanted to insulate a small shack standing on a concrete base in the 15ft plot.
The structure was mysteriously demolished shortly after he left the site in 2007 or 2008, with no visible sign of the cellar left.
